Better Late Than Never? Starting with the Spring...

I apologize for the extreme tardiness of this and the next post! I meant to write much sooner, but would still like to share some highlights from the Spring before I get to Summer and Fall.

One reason, if I can make an excuse, is that I started a new job at the beginning of April, working as Assistant to the Editors at The New Criterion, a monthly magazine focusing on cultural criticism: reviews of art, theater, music, books, dance, etc. Getting a regular gig meant that my schedule changed around, which lead to some distractions (or other focal points depending on your perspective), such as finally finishing projects that were a long time coming. My new schedule is very good for getting a lot of studio time, so I've finally achieved some much needed balance. I love the rituals that come with working in the studio, and a predictable schedule has been a very positive development.

This post mostly touches on exhibitions around the city from the Spring as well as a few other tidbits. I hope you enjoy it!

At the entrance to Art on Paper during the spring art fairs--I loved these wacky characters by Wayne White

They looked like giant paper stage props, mythical Don Quixote's that were kinetic too, so you could make some of them move around a little like giant teetering puppets

This spring also brought a fury friend into our lives. This is Inka! She was a young stray that followed our neighbors home one day. After getting spayed and her shots, we offered to cat-sit for a weekend when our neighbor's needed space for another rescued cat, and she's been with us ever since! More updates to come ;-)

Coming home one night--that's our hood.

Working away in my studio on an ongoing project using my old palettes for 12" x 12" paintings that will one day soon, form a much larger piece.

Until the next one! (which will be coming shortly)
