Mostly East, a Little West (Summer 2014)

And now Summer!

Since getting a smart phone for my birthday in the spring, I've noticed that I have strangely been taking less photos, and posting them less on places like Facebook. It seems to have had a reverse psychological effect on my photographic activities, but in organizing them for this post, I realized that I still managed to take a lot this summer.

In June, we took a trip up to Maine with Yvonne's materials for the summer. I have been assisting for Yvonne Jacquette, and after taking up her paintings and supplies, stayed with her for a week! On our way, we stopped in Massachusetts to see the Addison Gallery of American Art:

Roy Lichtenstein, Seascape (II), 1965 (I love the 3-D diorama aspect, something I didn't know Lichtenstein did)

Frederic Remington, Moonlight, Wolf, 1909

Edward Hopper, Freight Cars, Gloucester, 1928

Winslow Homer, The West Wind, 1891

Yvonne Jacquette, Northwest View from the Empire State Building, 1982

Louis Lozowick, Painting Sketch No. 2, New York, 1922

Peter Sekaer, Barge with Brooklyn Bridge, 1935

Once we got to Maine (in the Camden/Belmont area), we had to try the local delicacy at Young's Lobster Pound!

 Delicious!!!!

On the water at Young's

We also made a day trip excursion with Yvonne to Skowhegan and the Colby Museum:

Yvonne was a governor there for many years, and we were given a very nice tour of the grounds by Michael Berryhill, artist, former assistant to Yvonne, and returning Dean at Skowhegan

It turned out to be the perfect afternoon to go to a museum--summer rains were pounding down! We got to see two amazing shows at the Colby Museum. Here are images from them both:

Lois Dodd, Pond, 1962

Lois Dodd, Berns, Newton New Jersey, 1978

Lois Dodd, Pond, 1962

Lois Dodd, Team of Oxen, 1958-59
