Love it when things like this happen while making paintings--for that brief moment it is a perfect little visual experience, and then gone! (as it should be)
And then, a studio visit with the very talented Jamie Powell!

And now a few photos from the Smiling Hogshead Ranch and surrounding neighborhood in Long Island City where I am an artist in residence. Now that I have returned from my residency in Mississippi (more info and photos from that in my next blog post, coming very soon). I am excited to start drawing inspiration from this location, and sharing my work with you soon:
And a few other events around town:
Lower East Side sunset, walking to the opening for the group show that I was a participant of,
Second Family
At the opening, you can see my painting there, on the left: Fit Together, 2014,
oil on panel, 12" x 12"
The opening was well-attended to say the least!
Also a recent Wayne Thiebaud exhibition at Acquavella Gallery:
Wayne Thiebaud, Flood Waters
Wayne Thiebaud, Intersection Buildings
And there we are with Wayne, a little UC Davis alumni gathering organized by Gina Werfel.
Thank you, Gina!
Sunset in our hood, at the Seneca stop waiting for my train to a professional development workshop at the Durst Corporation in midtown...
And this was the view during the workshop! An inspiring vista to look at while planning for the future...
And lastly, the quilt I completed recently for little Fiona Curran (Amy Lincoln and Kevin Curran's daughter), in celebration of her birth
There she is! I think she's enjoying it already!
Until the next one, which will be coming very shortly!!!

You're absolutely right-"Love it when things like this happen..." is one of those instant images that perfectly describes how to accidentally produce art without it looking like you were trying to. And to be able to recognize, appreciate, and preserve it, is a good sign that your sense of esthetics are traveling in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jim! Hope all is going well,
ReplyDeleteBest,
Caetlynn
You've created such a rich life for yourself - great to see all those wonderful images, and your own work!
